Arizona Labor Day Weekend - Gearing Up for Fall
With Labor Day weekend quickly approaching, the summer season is officially coming to a close. There are plenty of ways to enjoy the final days of summer both around the greater Phoenix area and here at our private golf course community. Below are a few of our favorites ways to ring in Labor Day and the autumn season, even if the temperatures aren’t exactly giving us fall vibes.
PROFESSIONAL SPORTS
The start of fall means professional sports are in full swing. The MBL regular reasons runs through late September/early October and the Arizona Diamondbacks often host special events and discounts in honor of Labor Day weekend. Check their website for more details.
The Phoenix Suns and the NBA season tips off in October and we’ll be rooting for the boys in purple and orange as they go to battle on the court. The WMBA and Phoenix Mercury will be playing though October. Fun fact: the Mercury was one of the original WMBA teams, formed before the league’s first official season in 1997.
The first game of the official NFL season kicks off in September with pre-season starting in August. Join us in cheering on the Arizona Cardinals. Founded in 1898, the Cardinals are the oldest professional sports team in the NFL.
And hockey fans …
the puck drops on the NHL season in October. On away game days, or if you prefer watching your favorite team from the comfort of your own home, consider whipping up these game day dishes for your next party. I think we can all cheer for charred jalapeno and peach guacamole.
GOLF
September is when many courses in our area begin the overseed process, making Labor Day weekend the the perfect time to fit in some rounds of golf before course closures begin. Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club is home to two award-winning Nicklaus Design golf courses. Challenging and playable for golfers of all ages and skill levels, a weekend on the course is one of the best ways to celebrate the end of summer. Before you head out to play, visit our golf shop to fulfill your equipment and apparel needs. And don’t forget to drink plenty of water. The calendar may say fall is upon us, but the weather report is a different story.
POOL PARTY
Some of the best times are when you stay home. Because in Arizona we don’t consider Labor Day weekend the start of the fall season, check out our Summer Party Tips blog. One of our favorite ideas is to switch it up and host an evening pool party. Who says you can’t enjoy a pool or outdoor party after the sun goes down?
These are just a few ways you can celebrate the upcoming holiday weekend. Plus, there’s always something shaking at the club – get in a round of golf, grab a bit to eat or round up some friends for a game of Pickleball.
